QUEEN BEE
My relationship to knitwear design is the feminine and caring approach, the closeness to the raw material and the soft and organic possibilities of creating shape around the body. I tend to work with waste textures and yarns or all natural materials to give back and treat our planet well. All of my inspiration comes from nature and the stillness I find myself in when listening to her. My Intentions when creating is to trust the process and even though you need quite some skills and structure while knitting, you also have to ease into the flow of the yarn and the knitting machine.

A balance of structure and ease for the life of women that struggle to fit into our busy society.
Knitwear inspired by the way of the Bees.

My intuitive sketches and research have led me to Bees.
At first I was following the structures of their anatomy and translating it into knit structures.
Predominantly into Rib structures and Single Jerseys in different yarns to fully explore what was possible.
I leaned towards yarns like mohair to imitate the hairyness and silk for the delicacy of the amazing insect.
Developing all these structures I realised that there is much more to the Bee than just her looks and I found it in all the different Rib-Knit samples.
The Ribs are changing density and structure by using different yarns, stitch sizes and gage size.
From my analysis Bees are existing in a perfect balance of structure and ease.
Their hard work and discipline goes hand in hand with their care-taking, humble qualities.
Therefore my Knit-Collection flows from structure into delicate ease, giving the women wearing it a sense of calm by layering and combining high quality knit-pieces
